The Parade (of Homes) Rolls On

A Look Inside the Marigny/Bywater Parade of Homes Extravaganza

If you were anywhere near the Marigny or Bywater two weekends ago, you may have noticed something unusual—not a parade of floats, but a parade of homes. And if you missed it? Well, let’s just say there’s always next season (more on that in a moment).

For three whirlwind hours, home lovers, architecture buffs, nosy neighbors, and serious buyers alike

marched, strolled, and speed-walked their way through 20 homes for sale, taking in everything from grand double parlors to maximalist wallpaper that could stop a minimalist in their tracks.

“I made it to 12 homes before running out of time,” one attendee lamented, regret in their voice. “I needed at least another hour!” And they weren’t alone—one home saw 70 visitors throughout the day, while others had 20 people inside at once, sipping coffee, snapping photos, and contemplating their next move (literally).

The Scene

At the helm of this real estate revelry? Nicole Boisdoré and Kate Kancheva of Rêve Realtors, along with us at Cool Murphy Real Estate, bringing together a lineup of agents from eight brokerages to pull off what may just be the most successful neighborhood home tour in recent memory.

“This was unlike anything I’ve seen before,” said local homeowner Jane Rinck, who’s bought and sold her share of homes in New Orleans. “It felt like an actual event, not just a series of open houses. I had a blast!”

The energy was undeniable, and so was the variety. Turrets with oversized chess boards. Courtyards with fountains. A stunning pool here, a fixer-upper with potential there. The homes on tour were as diverse as the hundreds of people walking through them.

“I’ve never seen a crowd like this,” shared Doug Roderick, who spent the day welcoming guests. “Tourists from Europe, architecture lovers, serious buyers—everyone was here.”

What’s Next?

The only thing better than the homes? The community spirit. Agents mixed and mingled, neighbors reconnected, and more than a few buyers left with “this might be the one” looks on their faces.

And if you’re reading this thinking, “I wish I had gone!”—well, you just might get another shot. Word on the street is a spring edition may be in the works.

So stay tuned. And next time, plan accordingly—three hours goes fast when you’re busy falling in love with New Orleans real estate.
