You might suspect that Cool Murphy Real Estate is comprised of fun, hand-raising, smart cookies who often have their nose in a book. If you did, you'd be right.


This is why I'm beyond excited to present our annual summer reading recommendations handpicked by our amazing team members. Our 2023 list was such a hit that we've left some titles here and added to them.


Plus, we have two new contributors, Chris and Kristen, and a list of TV shows for those non-readers amongst us. Each of our contributors brings their unique style and taste to the table.

Elisa Cool Murphy - The Proud History Geek

Beneath Elisa's outgoing and fun-loving personality lies a passion for history. She particularly loves the untold stories and hidden narratives that have shaped us.   • New 2024 Selections:

    • "Their Eyes Were Watching God" by Zora Neale Hurston: A moving tale of an extraordinary woman navigating unprecedented times. It’s also the best depiction of a major storm Elisa has ever read, and she’s been through one.

    • "My Southern Journey" by Rick Bragg: Never has a writer's style been more transportive. It’ll make you feel like you’re here no matter where you’re reading from.

    • "The Spirits of New Orleans": You’ll see a few local characters you’ll recognize and enjoy, and even learn some of their stories.

    • "We're Pregnant!: The First Time Dad's Pregnancy Handbook" by Adrian Kulp: It doesn’t talk down to the reader and makes a big intimidating topic bite-sized and a joy to read together. Elisa looks forward to each week's update!

  • "The Boys": Amazon Prime's hit show about superheroes that lack the considerable empathy towards people the Avengers had.
