Growing up, Mom would say, "home is where your toothbrush is." My father, Colonel Cool, flew F1-11's in the US Air Force and we moved all the time!

After college, I spent 12 years in media and marketing as an Executive in Manhattan at places like The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, and a high-growth start-up. My job was coaching brands like IBM, Morgan Stanley, Whole Foods, GE, Red Bull, and yes, even Zillow, on how to better connect with people.
​
Eventually, I felt a pull to return to Louisiana—a calling I couldn’t quite explain at the time, but one that became clearer with every step. Grandma Cool is from St. Francisville, and our family’s Louisiana ties run deep. Her ancestors settled here after serving in the Revolutionary War, and even when we were stationed overseas, she made sure Louisiana always felt close—mailing us Tony Chachere’s seasoning across the Atlantic to keep that connection alive.

When I arrived in New Orleans, everything fell into place. I bought a house and met my husband, Matt Murphy, two months later. Now, I’m mom to Baby Cooper—my very own native New Orleanian—and two furbabies, Maddie and Wren. Matt, a Louisiana-born and bred guy, owns and operates Murphy Property Services, offering landlord services to homeowners throughout the metro area, and Dinomite Painting, specializing in cabinet refinishing, interior painting, and exterior transformations.

As the founder and sponsoring broker of Cool Murphy Real Estate, I’ve pulled together all of my life and business experiences to create something truly different—for both our clients and our agents. I love this city and being an ambassador to folks new to a neighborhood or to New Orleans. Many of my clients feel the same indescribable pull to this place that I did, and I know how to help them make this city feel like home.

For me, putting down roots here has been an affirmation that my toothbrush, my heart, and my family have all found their home. Let's find yours!

Elisa isn’t just a teacher—she’s a student. She enjoys learning about the city, its history, and its real estate, continually deepening her knowledge to better serve her clients and agents. A graduate of the Mayor's Civic Leadership Academy and The Louisiana State Museum's 100-hour course on New Orleans architecture and history, Elisa is a Historic Home Specialist and member of the Preservation Resource Center. She served five years on community and neighborhood boards and runs a successful in-home Airbnb.
